Fourth of July-- Ottertail Style!

Our fourth of July tradition is pretty set in stone. We always take a trip to Ottertail Lake (by Fergus Falls) to visit Ann's aunts and grandma. Even with another little one they said we could come back. We are sure glad we did. Bryn has not taken a long car ride (besides to Target) since she was 2 weeks old. She was a trooper the whole way there, until I took the longer route. The last 25 minutes were a little painful for all of us.
We made it! Bryn just needed to get out of the car and life was good. This was her room. She thought it was great.

First day at the beach. You couldn't guess by this picture that the wind was blowing so hard we ate most of the sand on the beach.

Ah, our little Gilligan. Jack found Rachel's hat and wore it all weekend. He also found this rope with a giant anchor attached. He managed to get the anchor out of the box. He has pipes.

Ignore me, but look at this cute kid. She thought everything was so funny this weekend.

First night of sparklers. Also a fun tradition until the mosquitoes eat everyone.

Kate's face is red because of too much sun, not that she lit it on fire. Although, we were a little worried about that, too!

I think Jack is trying to spell his name here. Of course each year he is in his pjs.

The next day we went to go visit aunts, uncles and cousins. It took a little convincing to get Jack into the water but once he was in-- there was no getting out. They had a blast.

Kate taking the big plunge into the lake off the dock. Her cousin said, "Run faster Kate and just jump..." She was running faster, maybe even as fast as she could.

Jack's long walk back from the end of the dock. I am surprised he made it.

Great Aunt Jan getting a little Bryn time.

Back to the cabin. Bryn loved playing with the goggles. Forget the toys folks, pack things you don't think they would care about and then they are happy.

Grandma Marcy thought Bryn was the happiest baby she had ever seen, until she had some stomach issues and cried for over an hour that night.

Kate and dad hanging out.

Great Aunt Rachel and Kate smiling nice for the camera... I left out the crazy shots.

Great Aunt Rosine and Kate looking sharp.

So we forgot to pack pants, socks and regular shoes for Jack. I guess we assumed it was time he started packing for himself. This was his alternative. Noticed the rolled tongue in the picture. He gets that from me.

A final squeeze, if you please. Happy 4th of July!
